Education

Thank you WDW for your support of our
At-Risk Education Programs at
Cypress Elementary and Westside Tech.

The SPCA of Central Florida offers free classes and presentations for children, youth, businesses and community groups.
All of our classes are available in English and Spanish.

Our Humane Educators deliver a diversity of programs within Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties. We have both on-site classes, which include a shelter tour, and outreach programs. We are eager to get the word out on our exciting and purposeful programs, and hope to hear from you soon!

  • T.A.L.K. (Teaching Animal Lessons to Kids) (K-5th Grade)
T.A.L.K. is part of the humane education initiatives of the SPCA of Central Florida. This program debuted in 1997 with the help and support of Walt Disney World, continues to support our local education system and the mandate of Florida Statute 233.061 that requires Florida schools teach kindness to animals as part of their school curricula. This exciting program is based on the belief that humane education, beginning very early on, is the most effective way to teach our children respect for all life and the prevention of cruelty not only to animals, but also to humans. Primary topics include Responsible Pet Ownership and Bite Prevention.

  • C.H.A.T. (Character Humane Animal Teachings) (6th grade-12th grade)
A very special program also funded by WDW, full of Interactivity, exciting lessons and presentations focused on the understanding of pet overpopulation, animal cruelty, animal abuse and human violence, and careers directly or indirectly involving animals.

  • T.L.C. (Tailored Lessons for the Community ) (Adults)
Customized presentations designed to fit the needs of businesses, churches, home owners associations, property managers and community organizations. This tailored program addresses a variety of animal topics affecting our community; such as pet overpopulation pet friendly housing, and animal cruelty.

  • Online Community Service (E-Learning Course) (Youth)
This very innovative, creative, and critical thinking program offers Central Florida's youth the opportunity to earn community service hours, a requirement for graduation and many scholarship programs.

  • Camp (Shelter Friends)
A unique camp that combines animal care and behavior learning activities, hands-on interactions with animals, welfare projects, crafts, and discussions with experts on animal issues. Our camp environment emphasizes activity based learning, collaborative learning and the development of leadership skills; helping our children make connections between animals and their own life experiences.

  • Shelter Tour
A life changing experience full of diverse lessons. Your journey begins with a little history of the SPCA of Central, our mission, and key information about us. Through our unique tour you will experience your journey through the eyes of one of our pets. Limited Space Available
