Separation Anxiety
Signs may include chewing, scratching, busting out
of confinement, barking, salivating, urinating, defecating,
vomiting or digging out. The dog is sick with depression.
What to do:
- Do not make a big "good bye" production
out of it for this will only add to your dogs anxiety.
- Kong toys are great distractions!
- Leave the radio on while you're away.
- Desensitize your dog to your 'getting ready to go'
routine.
- And of course a tired dog is a happy dog!
- The more exercise your dog gets the more likely
he/she will be to sleep while you are out.

Potty Training - Proactive not reactive!
Dogs have to go potty:
- Wake up in the morning
- After a nap
- Within 30 minutes after eating
- Before they go to sleep
- If you do not allow your dog or puppy to relive
itself at those times, they will most likely have
an accident.
Guidelines
- Don't wait for your dog to "tell" you
that it has to go out.
- Have a cue word such as "go potty".
- When they are successful praise and give them a
treat.
- Establish a daily routine of potty and feedings.
- If you catch the puppy in the act, stay calm. Firmly
say "NO" while scooping the puppy up right
away.
- Do not wait for him/her to finish!
- Quickly carry the puppy outside to the appropriate
potty area. Tell him/her "go potty" and
praise him/her when he/she does. If this happens with
an adult dog, firmly say "NO" and take them
(on a leash) outside.
- DO NOT: Rub the dog's nose in it, smack it with
a newspaper, and yell at it beat or slap it.
